Twisted-Pony Posted October 2, 2006 Posted October 2, 2006 Has anybody purchased/implemented Capita's webparts for SIMS.net in a portal outside of their Learning Gateway? Would be very interested to hear how the whole experience has gone.

It will also help out wireless issues with the registation feature via http. Saves us having to load up bulky sims to register every hr. Instead, they logon to the VLE and register via that.
Quackers Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Do not expect a speedy install. You cannot install it your self. We paid £8000 for it back in July and have still not got the product (awaiting install). Talk about long waits....
techyphil Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Oh crap, Yeh, they have quoted us £5800 for a 5day install. From what I understand, they install it from the ground up for security reasons. Why the delays? Have you actually paid them yet?

Was told early october at best when we ordered, apparently a big demand for the product , and since there is no self install, you have to wait for somebody from Capita's to come and do it. Unless your LEA have an agreement to do the install. Ours do not, since Staffordshire have got into bed with RM for the VLE and offer a poor solution, hence were going down the Learning Gateway route, i want it hosted onsite. So Sims learning gateway for us has to be installed by Capita not our LEA IT team. We have moodle, but also want Sims Learning gateway for the access to data for parents and staff.
