Vsphere supporting XServe

Hi All,

Just seeing if anyone as Virtualized an XServe yet on a VM platform? Or is it even possible.

According to Apple's EULA you can legally virtualize Mac OS X Server but only if you do so on Apple hardware (using VMware Fusion or Parallels Desktop for Mac/Server for Mac).

 

vSphere, Hyper-V or Xen would be out of the question because firstly, they do not support OS X Server as a guest operating system and secondly, because you would need to install the hyper-visors on Apple hardware. While you could certainly do the latter it wouldn't be a supported configuration, especially in the case of vSphere because Xserve's are not on VMware's HCL.

 

Being able to virtualize OS X on non-Apple hardware is never going to happen. At least not while Steve Jobs is in charge.
