Wonder if any one can help, When Students log on and use Front page 2003, File- Open , it says can not open and its the same when they save it says can not save, It must be looking for the C:\Programme files\My Web Sites Folder,

 

Is there any way of changing this path so it directs it to there home drives??

Just as thought, on the shortcut you use to open it, what happens if you change the "Start In" folder to something else? That normally will tell the program a default location to start in.

 

Not tried it, just a thought for what it's worth.

Ooo .. it's on this machine (I'm still learning what is and isn't installed at this new school! lol .. and before anyone says, I'm running Spiceworks!)

 

It seems to default to C:\Documents and Settings\User\My Documents\My Web Sites when you open it, even when setting the Start In folder so scrap that idea ..

 

I'll have a play and if no one comes up with anything first, I'll post back what I find ..

right .. ok I cheated when I couldn't find it quickly and googled the answer.

 

To change Default Location

 

1. Click Start > Click Run > type “regedit” to run Registry Editor
   
2. find following: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ FrontPage \ Explorer \ FrontPage Explorer \ Settings
   
3. Change the “DefaultWebName” to the folder you want it to be
   

 

You may or may not have to restart your machine to see the effects, and you could script this to a .default user in the registry I'm sure, but there you go.

Just tried this and it still doesnt work< i think the GPO is blocking it seeing the Home drives, all My Documents are redirected to the home drives.

 

Any other ideas??

Are you using redirected folders? As if so, you might have to use system variables in the Reg to get it to work properly:

 

eg:

 

\\servername\redirectedloc\%username%\My Documents\My Websites

 

or something along those lines.
