kevbaz Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Hi is anyone aware of software that will tell you how much its costing you to print? for example i want to print out a A0 poster, how do i know how much it just cost me to do so? somone has mentioned somethign called shiraz? but so far im unable to find it do you know of anything that will work like this?

kearton Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 I'm not sure about the cost of the ink, but I made a spreadsheet that included a load of different paper types for our A0 printer, to work out how many printouts I could get out of the rolls of paper and the approx cost of that piece of paper used...
Ric_ Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 PyKota can work out the cost based on the ink usage... it's not a feature I use but it might be worth a try since PyKota is open source. The other way is, assuming the printer has the feature, to check the printer's internal log of ink usage for a given job - I have several HP colour inkjets that give the amount of ink left so a simple subtraction gives me the amount of each colour used. I obviously know the cost and size of each cartridge and can then work out the cost per job.
