Yep we do. Had major problems with Software restrictions and allowing the S: drive so changed it to our server name. Now everywhere we had s:\sims we replaced with \\SERVER\sims\sims and it works fine.

If you use Nova-T for cover and viewing/printing then you will still need to map a drive on some workstations.

 

Similarly if you use SIMS Options and Nova-T6 for preparing next years timetable then you may still need the S: drive (or whatever letter you use).

As long as you don't need to keep using any of the older modules access via launcher then there is no reason why you cannot use the unc path. Jim mason at Capita confirmed that there should be no problems as long as you aren't using Nova, etc

And as long as you are not using FMS to manage your school finances?

 

I only bring this up because it does not appear to be made clear in these posts.
