RabbieBurns Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 trying to install x64 windows 2003 so i can have a play with exchange 07, but having a problem getting it to work... This is the error message Im getting, any suggestions what i need to do to fix it? Is it a setting in the bios perhaps? Or something I need to enable in the kernel?
Jamo Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 You need to enable APIC on the Virtual Machine, im guessing your using Virtual Box in which case go to the options of the VM and enable APIC.
RabbieBurns Posted October 19, 2009 Author Posted October 19, 2009 yeah its virtualbox... cheers ill see if I can figure that out..

RabbieBurns Posted November 2, 2009 Author Posted November 2, 2009 Only just had time to go back to this since I installed it, and it appears that in device manager it cant find the driver for the network card?? Ive 3 other windows guests running on this and they all work fine. Ive tried re-installing the Virtual box guest additions too... Any Ideas?
tmcd35 Posted November 2, 2009 Posted November 2, 2009 According to VirtualBox - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, virtual box supports these network cards: AMD PCnet PCI II (Am79C970A), AMD PCnet-Fast III (Am79C973), Intel Pro/1000 MT Desktop (82540EM), Intel Pro/1000 MT Server (82545EM), and Intel Pro/1000 T Server (82543GC). I take it you installed the Guest Additions? Have you tried changing which NIC is emulated. I can't believe one of the Pro/1000 don't work. If all else fails the Pro/1000 drivers are easy to get hold of...Network Connectivity - Drivers and software for Intel® Gigabit and PRO/1000 Network Adapters 1
RabbieBurns Posted November 2, 2009 Author Posted November 2, 2009 Cheers, I changed it to 82545EM and it popped up straight away. Strange that. But at last I can have a play with Exchange 07.
RabbieBurns Posted November 13, 2009 Author Posted November 13, 2009 got it going.. I dont use the GUI but figured out the commands.. Cheers would have been useful if you had actually posted the commands uses.. so you didnt have to go hunting for them again
