Sorry guys, I am new to Joomla etc. so please bear with me.

Can anyone point me in the right direction regarding the following questions:

I would like to change the title of Frontpage but cannot find it. It always stays "Welcome to Frontpage".

Second: Where do I edit the main banner and logo images? I cannot find it, neither in the CSS nor in the backend.

Does anyone have a help file on this particular Joomla package?

All comments appreciated as feeling lost.

Cheers

To change the images, you need to look in template/*templateyourusing*/images

To change the frontpage title I believe you have to download a SEO extention from the extensions repository @ Joomla!

Hi mossj

Thanks.for your help

Is there no way to simply upload a new logo and set a link to it? Where are the CSS for the banners?

Posted

CSS for banners

template/*templateyourusing*/css

Images for banners

template/*templateyourusing*/images (just replace the default images in there much easier)

template

template/*templateyourusing*/index.php

Thanks a lot again.

One more thing to get me on the way:

I want to move around the main menu elements - Home - News - .... and give them background colours etc etc. - how can I manage that?

The welcome to the front page is found in the control panel. There's a thread telling exactly where it is somewhere on this forum.

I think it was simplesi who gave the information.

Try having a look in global config (in backend on the top menu, left most options) maybe (I don't have a joomla install to check anymore...)

Also look in the menu manager for the menu items and css for the backgrounds.

Look under Menus>Main Menu. Edit the Home link. Look in Parameters(System). You will see where you can change this.

This excerpt from a book should help: Customizing the Menus Menu in Joomla! with the menu arrangement. Changing the font size will require editing the template css.

There are some who visit the forum who are far more knowledgeable than I. But, I believe that you need to edit the template.css file that is located in the directory of the template that you have set as default template. Example: \templates\axe_rescheek_blue\css\template.css

Make sense?

I tried to upload a new template via the extension manager

However, I get the following error: Warning! Failed to move file!

What is wrong?

I've tried that, it only came up with another error "Restricted access" when I tried to show the website. In the extension manager it showed a "red cross"

Do you mean that you see a red cross under the compatibility column? If so, the template may be for Joomla 1.0 and not compatible with Joomla 1.5.
