Backup Exec 12

Hello Fellow EduGeeks.

 

Ok so here is the little problem that I am having. Just over a week ago the backups on one of the servers that I support stopped working. reporting that it was timing out. so I increased the time out and they still failed. finaly removing and it is working once again.

 

However the issue is this the overal amount of data that is being backed up has only increased by a gig in size but the time has gone from completing a backup in just under 6 hours to around 13 hours. any ideas as to why such a big time difference. average backup speed is around 186 MB/s

forgot to add running on Windows Server 2003 SP2 and DDS4 tape drive

Just out of interest hows the fragmentation on the drives your trying to backup?

Fragmentation is fine on all the drives.

 

After posting this Log. I created a coule of new backup jobs and then recreated my full backup and all once again was working in a decent time frame of around 3 to 4 hours. very strange and bizzar.

Are you using the Symantec tape drivers? The software can be fussy if you dont.
