Nelson Handwriting Fonts MSI

I have been requested to install this software on the network at a school, not a problem i thought, i'll use the MSI file. Created a batch file to only install the software if it is not already installed and set the msiexec to install using silent mode. Ran it and it appeared to work.

Problem:

Only the fonts are installed and not the template. Spoke to Nelson Thornes who told me that their MSI is not intended for Network Installation. Anyone got any ideas how to get this to work or does anyone have an MSI that works for this software?

the template can be done as an msi i have done it in the past. I "think" if you run the install manually on a pc then go pocking round the temp files it puts an msi there then you need to run msiexec /a on that file (id copy it elsewhere first). be aware it dont seem to work on vista but the fonts seem to even though its just a template file iirc

Spot On. What a ridiculous installer routine. One for the fonts which then starts another for the template. How stupid?!?!?!

 

Form what i have read though, this is par for the course for Nelson Thornes Software

most of their other bits ive used msi out fine but actually work from a shared network drive just as well so i take the easy option lol

I had the same problem with it not installing the template, so I created an MSI manually which added the font files and template.

 

I quite agree with you about the idiocy of selling a product to schools with an installer which isn't designed for network deployment!

Wow, that's impressive resurrecting of an old post - that was from 2009! I am no longer at the school with that MSI, so can't help unfortunately.
