Vista Recovery Partition is full

Someone saw me this morning and there laptop keeps poping up a message saying windows recovery partition is almost full. How do you free up space in the recovery partition? I thought this was only to reinstall windows didn't realise it could get full.

Basically check to see if backup/restore in schedule the Control Panel is set to D drive as a backup had problem some time ago... could be wrong
