School Website Legislation

Afternoon All.

 

Just a quick question I'm not too sure on, like the network policy is there a Legislation to what content / images etc are submitted on a school website? which has been produced by the ELA or Gov?

 

Trying to get a new school website but it's being put aside and 'could' take time apparently due to some legislation...

There is a general "Students shouldn't be identifiable" rule.

 

So:

 

You can have a picture of Fred Bloggs playing football and scoring a winning goal

But you can't label that as "Fred Bloggs"

 

Or you can have "Fred Bloggs won $whatever", but you can't then show a picture of him.

 

For everything else, it's common sense regarding copyright, data protection etc.

Thanks, the picture thing obviously excludes staff right? so I can have staff pictures next to their names? but not for students...

You would have to to get consent from the member of staff.

students - you need consent of parents (unless student is 16 or over)

staff - you need thier permission.
