Group Policy Blocking Flash

Hi,

 

There is a group policy that is blocking flash. It only blocks the site if the the URL path contains the .swf in it. For example flash objects on this site display fine but if i go to http://www.website.com/myear.swf a white page is displayed.

 

I cant fidn the policy preventing this, does anyone have any ideas?

HI

 

Try going into group policy management and run a group policy results on the machine and or person that has a problem.

 

This will give you a list of all the group policies applied and the settings.

 

The flash program could have been blocked under say a path rule.

 

Just an idea.

Sorry I forget are you sure that the flash program is blocked or is it the security setting in flash.

 

Log on the machine as admin and have a look at Adobe - Flash Player : Settings Manager - Global Security Settings panel

 

You can deploy these settings if needed to all users.

IME that wouldn't work at the best of times i.e. a SWF file must be embedded in HTML which fires up the ActiveX control targeted at e.g. http:\\blah.blah\fred.swf".

 

I'd have thought you might get the "how do I open this" dialogue though. Perhaps not.

Do you use MS ISA server?

 

we've got an intermittant issue here where flash websites sometimes work, other times it displayes the message telling you to update flash or sort out active x...

ISA is the common link to the problem here.

 

My PC goes straight out to our county councils proxy and it always works fine...

The problem is our ISA does the filtering so we need it to go through. My other school doesn’t get the problem. Also if you use an account with no group policies applied it works perfect and that goes through ISA Server

humm, perhaps i'm looking in the wrong place then. will have a look through GP and replort back if i find anything of any use
