Hi,

We've acquired another RM CC3 server and I'm now about to spread the students' accounts around. Using the RM Management Console it seems easy enough - select the user(s) and choose 'Move'. Fine, but attempts are failing because of a strange, unexpected OS problem. Some users, bless 'em, have saved copies of web pages; this creates an html file and an associated folder that contains the page data (images etc). Seems that the OS (Windows 2000/2003 servers, XP PCs) firmly links these together, so that when the account copy starts both the RM utility AND the OS try to copy the folder - the OS gets there first, the RM utility complains that the file already exists and bails out (no option there). Anyone else come across this before?

I've implemented the so-called RM fix on all the servers - changing/adding the registry entry in HKEY_.... Explorer "NoFileFolderConnection", set to 1, but this has had no effect, either run from the server or from a PC. Any ideas (apart from deleting all the student data - not on really (is it?))?

Cheers,

Ian

Aww good ole RM.

I'm just doing the same thing on our non rm network and as far as I can see all I had to do was robocopy the user files from one server to another and then change the location of their home folder etc... in active directory.

Admodify will do a bulk change of these settings as well.

Not yet, and I'd rather not if I don't have to, but I may just do it once to see if the problem persists. However, that's not what we pay our money to RM for... I'll let you know how that works out.

Cheers,

Ian
