Arcath Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Im having a few problems with the Acrobat Reader MSI. I set it up before summer at one of my schools, ran a test on 3 machines in the server room and it worked fine so i shipped it out to the whole school. Ive now come in for my first visit after summer to find all the machines taking an hours + to load the login screen with "installing Adobe Read" on the screen. And when they finnaly do let you login in Acrobat Reader isnt instaled. Anyone know how to sort this out?

Arcath Posted September 8, 2009 Author Posted September 8, 2009 Im using the adobe one. Right i think ive fixed the MSI, the machines will boot near instalnyl again, but dont have it installed, is this because in theory AD thinks that they have it installed? how do i force an MSI Re-Install?
Arcath Posted September 8, 2009 Author Posted September 8, 2009 Ive performed a redeploy (right click -> All Tasks -> Redeploy) on the MSI but none of the machines are re-installing it, ive done a couple of GPO Updates

Psymon Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 We had this problem upgrading from 8-9. If the installer has trouble removing 8, it will just bail out and allow the user to logon. Next time the machine fires up it attempts another uninstall, but again makes no progress. We dumped Adobe9 as it wasnt too happy with roaming profiles, rolled back to 8.1.4 i think. Simon

Jobos Posted September 16, 2009 Posted September 16, 2009 Thanks. The school uses foxit here and I’m only installing acrobat because the school has bought the online Renaissance Learning software and it will not run without acrobat installed.

farmerste Posted September 17, 2009 Posted September 17, 2009 i recently tried the 'hacked' version of 9.1 lite, but it didnt allow sound to run in documents, so have gone back to 8 at the moment. acrobat reader 5, was the best one i think
