Little-Miss Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Right, in earlier thread. Had no network connection think thats sorted. But i also think there were 2 issues. Im trying to image 8 Elonex machines. One is already done and thats the one that was taken off site by the company and they imaged it at their place. Now its the other machines turn but i i cant get them ti talk to the new domain and i cant get them to do PXE as the one machine that got that far failed after the propella thing. Do i need to update the network cards or something, so the only way i can think to do that is to reinstall windows on it first? Im not thinking straight cus ive got such a headache so if someone wants to jump in with a suggestion...feel free...
Little-Miss Posted September 4, 2009 Author Posted September 4, 2009 ignore the nonesense about windows...im in locally....told you i wasnt thinking straight... Still, do you think its a driver/firmware issue?
witch Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Is the machine identical to the one they took off site? Do you know what they used to image it? I would have thought that all the machines have the same drivers etc but perhaps they updated them or something before imaging Can you not ask them to help - I'm sure the school paid big money for your new network and surely they could give you a hand? I am in the same situation as you but a couple of weeks behind...oh joy! 1
Little-Miss Posted September 4, 2009 Author Posted September 4, 2009 Well, i checked the nic drivers and the BIOS versions and they're all the same. They ghosted them. I just cant get the things to boot from PXE. I left at 6:30, no further on. with a huge migraine and could have quite easily cried...
Martin Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 Regarding PXE - what is on the server responding to the PXE request from the client - Ghost? If you can boot a PC into Windows, can you open a "command" window and type "IPCONFIG/ALL" to see if Windows is getting a DHCP address? If Windows isn't then that is probably why PXE isn't! mb 1
