Hello

Question for you all.

Looking for recommendations on a cheap ADSL modem router - however, I would like it to have gigabit ports on the back. The ADSL connection is right the other side of the school and needs to make its way back through multiple switches to get to the core and the schoolguardian box.

Anyone know of anything?

Kind regards

Michelle

An ADSL router with gigabit ports is rare (read: expensive), given that even ADSL2+ is only rated to 24Mb/s. In any case, that won't help you with getting traffic back to your core over a long distance; that's down to good cable and patches.

Thanks for that. Was just (hopeful) thinking that it may help to reduce some of the bottleneck/sharing issues that are currently getting us.

I know I have an awful lot to do on the network side. I am just putting in a fibre backbone through the core at the moment, but due to years and years of neglect, it will take a long time to get round to the edge (not fibre though!). Got a four year plan to update the whole (un)structured cabling infrastructure.
