kevbaz Posted October 20, 2009 Author Posted October 20, 2009 Morning all I am back from the Yomp tired sore and achy but generally unscathed J. Unfortunately we were unable to complete the entire distance due to Chris picking up an injury on the first day (pulled groin climbing over a gate!) This left us 3 quarters into our 1st day distance with a team member not able to go any further, we were in a location where he couldn’t be picked up and it was some 5-6 miles to any form of road. We decided to set up camp early, get warm and fed, we then discussed our options, we didn’t want to drop a team member as so much hard work had gone into this event, Chris didn’t want to give up at all, he wanted to push on the next morning to our first check point where he would asses how he was coping. After reaching the check point the next day in good time Chris declared he wanted to push on, however we all knew the 56miles was now too much to ask as we didn’t cover enough ground on the first day and now carrying an injured team member, we agreed we would do as many miles as we physically could in the remaining time, and that’s exactly what we did! In the end we covered just under 40 miles which considering what happened we felt was a great effort. Many thanks for all of your support, knowing so many people were behind us really drove us on.
