GPO lock down for students

Hi Guys

 

we are just setting up our gpo's for the new network 2008 server and xp clients. I was woundering if I could get a look at some other people's gpo to see if we covered the all the bases.

Hi Mark,

 

We have broken our 2008 GPOs for students up into broad functional groups:

 

Allowed/Denied programs

Internet Explorer settings

Desktop/Start Menu redirection

BGInfo settings.

 

This might not be the exact configuration as it stands now, haven't looked in a while, but you get the idea.

 

We found this worked better and [for the most part] was easier to troubleshoot when things did not go exactly as planned.

 

I will try to remember to post more detail tomorrow [very busy this summer hol]

Here are the GPOs my post from yesterday refers to.

 

They still need some work but they seem to do the job most of the time. Hope they help [Had to zip them up as the site will not accept '.htm' files as uploads]
