Windows 7 - VPC = rubbish

So I desperately need to get a vista guest installed on my win7 x64 host so i can convert some e-mail to 'windows mail' format...

 

Set ISO to x64 version of vista sp1 = Failure as it appears that VPC doesn't let you install x64 ontop of an x64 VPC. Great.

 

Set ISO to x86 version of vista sp1 = CD BOOT failure error code 1.

 

Good stuff. Downloading virtualbox now.

Get VMWare,

 

The last version of ESXi is now free

 

I can't post the URL as this is my first post (great rule that one is, did someone win an award for inventing that?) If you google VMWare ESXi Free you will get what you need.

 

Its so much better than anything VPC has to offer in my opinion. You can also get VMWare converter for free to convert your physical machines or yuou VPC's to VMWare images.

VMWare - Sorry, i often forget that we dont all have free hardware to run ESXi on. Still the Server 2 edition is good.

I prefer VirtualBox ( VirtualBox - I can post links). Personal preference but it works very well under 7

I have used Windows 7 x64 in Hyper V. Works a treat
