deerwood Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Just checked today and I notice there is a new service pack for version 9.5 of Smartboard software. Thankfully, you do not have to download the whole software package if you have already installed 9.5, just download the new service pack2 See http://www.smarttech.com/support/software/sb_win.asp
Geoff Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 On older boards the original 9.5 software crashed. See this thread: http://www.edugeek.net/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=2481
deerwood Posted July 20, 2006 Author Posted July 20, 2006 Did it? Can't see any mention of crashes in that thread.
Geoff Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 In SimpleSi's first post on the thread: And it errored on exit 3 times and wanted to send error report. That's a crash in my book.
deerwood Posted July 20, 2006 Author Posted July 20, 2006 But that was the installer program NOT the software itself. The errors SimpleSi seems to have encountered were probably due to trying to 'upgrade' from an earlier version instead of uninstalling the old version first.
Jake Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Quite possible, I had alot of trouble trying to upgrade from an earlier version rather than uninstalling first. Only annoyance I have now is that we have a 210mb file of educational essentials for the board which not only takes forever to install, but visually appears to crash the machine while its doing it. It doesnt actually crash the machine, but does lock it up for a long period while it installs. (guy from smart provided us with it..got masses and masses of templates and lessons for different subjects in it)
SimpleSi Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 For clarification, my crashes were in SMART notebook and were on upgraded installs.. I've only put one school onto V9.5 (they got desktops to replace teacher laptops and are therefore virgin machines) - I'll check to see how they are getting on because just because they haven't complained doesn't mean it works regards Simon
CheeseDog Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Just tried the MSI here on a CC3 network with a virgin machine seems to install ok haven't tried it with one actually attached to a SMARTBoard yet (going to try it tomorrow) If that goes ok I'll allocate it over summer and the real test will come in September.
