scheduledtask Posted July 20, 2009 Posted July 20, 2009 I am getting conflicting reports from companies on how many servers and at what spec we require to have vSphere with VMView and vCenter to support 300 clients with a 10TB SAN. We are looking at using VDI to the clients. Main concern is getting a bare minimum spec to do the job resulting in poor performance. Would anyone have just a rough idea on the server side needed on this vague question and roughly the cost involved.
apaton Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 (edited) I am getting conflicting reports from companies on how many servers and at what spec we require to have vSphere with VMView and vCenter to support 300 clients with a 10TB SAN. Would anyone have just a rough idea on the server side needed on this vague question and roughly the cost involved. Common question is how many VDI VM's can I put on a single server. My usual answer is "it all depends" But between 5-8 per core, therefore on a new server with 8 cores, should hold up 64 machines. Users will NOT be active all the time. Sandman Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 Best bet if you get no joy here is to look at the knowledgebase at Xtravirt or the VMTN community forums.
