[ubuntu] Proxy and Gateway

Hello, everyone.... I have some problems with gateway in Ubuntu 8.10.

Early I had Internet connection and P@P connection. After changing gateway bby my provider I hadn't both connections. With help usuall settings of network I hve the Internet, but haven't the P@P. The provider said I must change the gateway. He is user of Windows, then he doesn't know what to do... But I need P@P... What should I do?

Best start would be to give us the output of ifconfig along with a description of how your computer connects to the internet.

on my keyboard the @ key is the number 2 key, so could he be pressing shift and mean P2P ?

In that case; I can't see why changing the gateway would help.

It depends entirely upon your provider and what they are saying.

I suspect you are part of a corporate/education network in this case?

 

The only people who can help you are going to be whoever manages your network; if they're saying you need to change your gateway they possibly mean the proxy to one which supports p2p or so which they would supply.

And when I start DC++, I see message: "Network is unreachable"

Could I set the p2p-connection somewhere?

You probably need to configure your p2p client to use the proxy server.

I use linuxdcpp... How I could set it? Or, if you use some other, advice me, please...

I've quickly installed it, version 1.0.3 is the version I have and if you click on File, Preferences, Connection, you can access the firewall/proxy settings.

 

You might be able to put your proxy server IP in under Socks5 depending upon whether it allows that.

 

Once you get connected you would probably need to look at the other settings in there for incoming connections.

However, it is gateway. Because, when I have installed Debian from Internet and written gateway, p2p had worked... I have copied text of file /etc/network/interfaces... But now I have another trouble. I have set up Ubuntu 9.04... And when I turn on my usb-device, computer talk me about unknown file-system... What should I do?
