featured_spectre Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 We have around 90 Acer Aspire one netbooks (linux based) and we want to have the wireless set up on all of them, without having to go round the whole school to pick up each access point for each netbook. Is there a way that I can go around with 1 netbook, pick up all the access points, transfer the data to a USB stick and then import this for the Aspire Ones based on linux? Many thanks Carl
Quackers Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 Do you not have all your AP's broadcasting the same SSID?
featured_spectre Posted July 9, 2009 Author Posted July 9, 2009 yeah I do, but the trouble is, it will find the SSID, and attach it to a MAC address of the AP, which is highly annoying as when walking around the school it will drop connection, and then have to be reconnected. Windows based laptops / wireless equipment works fine without any hassle.
Potato-Peeler Posted July 9, 2009 Posted July 9, 2009 (edited) On our netgear rangemax AP's theres an export client for mac address filtering, and obviously an import. If you did this on one, then imported it to all the others it would work, and with mac address filtering would you really need a password? Though passwords are more preferable, MAC is normally foolproof. So then it could just pick up the AP's without problems? Edited July 9, 2009 by Potato-Peeler
featured_spectre Posted July 9, 2009 Author Posted July 9, 2009 we are running a ruckus system here, we did have a netgear system, and even on that it did the same thing. On the last batch of updates for the aspires it completely cocked up our wireless which put my boss in a bad mood and me even more so! Basically I am hoping for a shortcut in which I can take the settings from one and blitz it across, short of going round with 90 if them!
