dagza Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 I have a screencast I recorded with snapz that I am editing with final cut epress HD. The problem is the recording is 640*480 and FCE will only work in DV sizes (i have checked on the apple forums). The result is the recording sites in the middle with a thick black border to pad it out to size. I read about croping the frame size using quicktime pro and masking but is there a free / very easy way to do this? :?
wesleyw Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 Virtualdub may be able to help you there it's at: http://www.virtualdub.org Download from: virtualdub.sourceforge.net
GrumbleDook Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 It is worth getting QT Pro ... the export to iPod function is a big time saver. I thought FCE came with QT Pro?
dagza Posted July 13, 2006 Author Posted July 13, 2006 Does it! All the pro features are greyed out in the player. I think I installed everything on the disc but I will have a look at the apple site in a sec. I don't have a video ipod . Do students actually download vid/podcasts and play them back on their ipod rather than just through itunes / pc? Our podcasts gets hundreds of downloads but I have only ever met 3 who admitted it is on their ipod.
kingswood Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 QT Pro is the way to go... ..mmmm..that rhymes.... Paul :-)
dagza Posted July 13, 2006 Author Posted July 13, 2006 OK, I can't see it on the dics or any of the FC bundles on the site so I guess I will have to get it on it's own. Thanks.
GrumbleDook Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 QT Pro is just a key that you type into the registration tab on the preferences pane. Check the manuals etc to see if there is a key there.
dagza Posted July 13, 2006 Author Posted July 13, 2006 OK, so I have now managed to crop the video using a mask I could still use some advice from anybody on how to get the file sizes down but keep the quality. This is an area I have always struggled with, You can have a look at what I am up to here: http://e-subjects.co.uk/wordpress/ I would say only go for the more recent file as the older one has not been cropped yet (not that there is much in it TBH). webman Posted July 13, 2006 Posted July 13, 2006 OK, so I have now managed to crop the video using a mask Fancy dress, dagza? 8) I'll get me coat
