Xenserver 5.5 Sun x4150

Just burnt the cd and ran the install however when I get to Select Installation Source and choose local media it brings up "Base installation repository was not found at that location. Please check and try again"

Checking through the Citrix forum brought up hit ALT+F2 type in modprobe ide-generic hit ALT+F1 however this doesn't fix the problem for me?

 

Any help guys?

I've just installed XenServer 5.5 on our Sun X4150's. Didn't have any problems with the install, although I used the iLOM remote KVM console with redirected dvd drive to mount the iso image. No need to mess around with burning CDs or actually going to the server room

 

If you do use the iLOM make sure to upgrade the service processor to the latest version (v3 support tools dvd download is on the Sun website for the X4150s) as I'm not sure if the ability to mount images was in previous iLOM versions.

First thing I would check was that the CD burnt correctly.

You might need to check the integrity of a downloaded ISO before burning it to a media type. A corrupt ISO can lead to problems during installation.

 

To verify downloaded ISOs on Linux

md5sum is a command line utility which can be used on a Linux system to generate and verify the MD5 digests using the MD5 algorithm. This is helpful for detecting file corruption.

 

Download pages provide a md5sum digest for the ISO that can be verified against the file after it is downloaded. . If they differ, then the downloaded ISO is corrupt.

Command Syntax:

# md5sum [OPTION] [FILE]..

In the simplest form:

# md5sum

 

The above command generates an md5 digest (signature) which can be verified against the one available on the Web site.

For more command options, please refer the man page for md5sum.

1). Right checked the ISO burned it again same issue.

2). Plugged in an External USB DVD Drive booted from that installed!

 

So thankfully this saga is at an end!
