Ethernet drivers for HP DC5100 tower... I'm stuck!

I've had to re-install XP Pro SP2 on an HP DC5100 and did this from the supplied recovery disks.

 

All is fine BUT it hasn't installed the ethernet drivers

 

I got as far as this webpage: HP Compaq dc5100 Microtower PC- Download drivers and software - HP Business Support Center

 

But how do I know which to use and what do I do with it please?

Try em all's the quickest way I'd say.

 

5 Listed, 1 you can discount immediately the wireless one which leaves 4 of which there are 2 brands, Broadcomm and Intel.

 

You'll know soon enough if it works, or not.

 

Pretty poor recovery disks eh.

Too late now, but if you're in this kind of situation again you can easily get the manufacturer from device manager. Get the properties of the network card which needs a driver and go to the details tab. Choose "hardware IDs" from the dropdown - the info there tells you what the card is. The first part of the number tells you the manufacturer; 2 common ones are Intel which is 8086 and Broadcom which is 14E4

Or... if you are extremelly lazy you can use a program like Astra 32 from here ASTRA32 - Advanced System Information Tool - Free Download and run it from a USB key and it will tell you the names of your missing drivers amongst other things.
