Mergefield within datasource

Does anyone know if there is a way to have a mergefield within the datasource? I have a statement bank and a member of staff wants a group of statements to be along the lines of "Next year XXX will need to work harder", where XXX is the students name gotten from the datasource. Of course not all of the statements start "Next year" & they are not easily rewritten to have the name at the front. My first thought was to copy and paste the mergefield into the statement but of course that was far too simple.

 

Any ideas?
