Number6 Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 For some days now I've been working on a staff member's personal PC, doing bits inbetween 'proper' work as and when. XP was unstable so this morning I ran a repair install and it's now stuck in a loop. The installation gets as far as "Installing Devices", then the screen flickers a couple of times followed by the PC rebooting. On reboot the installation starts again at the point it failed, "Installing Devices", runs this for a couple of minutes and then reboots again. The cycle repeats endlessly. It's obviously some sort of hardware problem but I'm looking for ideas how I can track down the exact cause. Any thoughts?
lbradley Posted June 11, 2009 Posted June 11, 2009 Any Hardware diagnostics in Bios? If it were me id change the memory first check see if that worked. Then if not the hard disk just in case. If not its something motherboard related probs.
