Anyone use CA ARCserve Backup

Anybody got feed back on Arcserve 11.5. I'm thinking of changing from a creaking veritas 9.0 and it seems cheaper (with school deal) to move to CA. So any feedback would be good 8)

We have Arcserve here, but I'm slowly moving to an NTBackup-based remote disk backup.

 

I find the Arcserve interface terrible and totally over complicated TBH, but then I think that's the case with most enterprise backup progs. See if you can get a demo first - I'd show you round ours but we're many miles away. I used Veritas about 3 years ago on Win2k I think and I remember it being more intuitive than Arcserve.

 

Sorry if that's not what you wanted to hear. If you don't have a problem with the interface I think they do "competitive upgrades" from other packages such as Veritas so you might want to look into that.

I'd have a look first - ArcServe used to be an absolute ^%&*% to administer. I'm breaking out in a sweat remembering having my desk covered with print outs of all the service fixes that had to be applied in a particular order to keep it running - though this was a few years ago - maybe they've smartened up since then.

I've just had a flyer through from European Electronique with an offer for this. Compared to what we're using atm (Legato Networker) it is disturbingly cheap.
