Laptop and Projector Dual Image

When I connect a projector to a laptop, I'm getting 2 images side by side.

I've tried adjusting the resolution and settings with no luck.

 

Any suggestions?

You need to set it to clone mode....

 

What make is the graphics? ATI or Nvidea?

I've seent his on a laptop we have... needless to say it's half term and I'm not any where near the laptop, so I can't check it out on the machine in question...

 

I think what you are seeing is called Dualview which allows you to use multiple monitors and have different things on each display.

 

This is a microsoft article on how to set it up... hopefully it will help you unpick it.

Its a Dell Lat D630 w/ an Intel Mobile 965 graphics card embedded

How do I enable the clone mode?

On a laptop it's often one of the function keys; pressed repeatedly it will cycle through the screen options.

I think it's fn + F8, cycle through like mentioned above.

Fn+F8 should do it, but sometimes that will enable both monitors but still keep you in the 'extended desktop' mode rather than clone.

 

If so, when you have the two separate images up, go into the Control Panel, and double-click Display. Go to the Settings tab, click on monitor #2, untick the box below it marked Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor, and click OK. Now when you use Fn+F8 to cycle through the different display modes, it should correctly configure the two monitors to clone.
