Calling network managers in Northamptonshire

Some of you may have received a letter from Capita dotICT a few weeks ago ... and a similar one went to your head.

 

You were invited along to a get together in Northampton to have Capita dotICT's guys (and gals) talk to you about NM sort of stuff.

 

Unfortunately it was cancelled due to personal circumstances but will be rearranged for a new date soon.

 

This is just a friendly word about it ... some people have thought it was going to be about SIMS. It won't be ... it will a forum for people to share some ideas ... to learn and get help on things like RIS, SNMP and contacts with a few suppliers. Get advance info on changes that will be made to services from Capita dotICT (so you don't have to get it 3rd hand from your bursar or Head).

 

And yes ... there will be an EduGeek presence there too ;-)

 

This is a good chance to get to meet other people and if nothing else ... get out of the cupboard for a day.

 

When the new date is available I will post it up here with the details of who to contact at Capita dotICT to book yourself in (and remember ... it is free!)

Is there funding from Capita then for meetings to tap into Tony?

The county support team as it was, dotICT, was recently made into a spin off company ... that has been bought up (and backed) by Capita ... hence the name Capita dotICT.

 

Any school within the county that has an SLA of any level with dotICT (or Capita) or has had recent work (eg cabling) done by dotICT is free to come along.

 

They want to work with schools and so are providing the location, the engineers, the teas and coffees.

 

Can't say much fairer than that. I hadn't mentioned it before as it is meant to be a county thing to start withuntil it gets going ... but 2 people I spoke to this week seemed to be mistaken that it was all about SIMS.

 

Thought it was worth letting people know ... after all ... it it works in Northants ... it can work elsewhere.

Thats shame - we don't have any contracts with .ict - so I didn't get an invite. Might've been useful too. Who's the contact for this GD - I might wave my BCS flag at them.

I've already spoken to the people running this and metioned about inviting someone from your place, Sponne, Brooke Weston ... and other schools who don't have contracts ...

 

They have to justify it to Capita though so it might be a case of once it is running (say after the 2nd meeting) getting other schools in ...

 

I'll drop you a line during the week about the BCS stuff as justification.

I'll be there as well, whenever they decide to re schedule it. Sounds really interesting. It was only a few weeks since I went to the RM tech seminar in Peterborough and I enjoyed that too. Free food, can't grumble!

There were lots of people there. I did speak to quite a lot of them but I have a terrible memory and forget names so quickly. I was the one who nicked coffee from the wrong machine and got rapped by the hotel staff!
