TechSupp Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Just got to install a Hitachi projector up in a classroom and I need to find out the thread size that is in the projector. Don't have the previous mounting screws (thrown away!), looked in the manual and no joy and looked on the case and no inication. Anyone got any ideas? Think they are usually a univera=sal size, but what size, then I can get some new ones.
robmal Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Its going to a metric size almost certainly. So measure the approx diameter and nip over to B&Q and buy a few either side of what you reckon it is ie 10mm dia would be m10 size Or get a plastic box of assorted bolts from Screwfix as they are a good thing to have around and will be a saving in the long run. The box should be one of those partitioned ones with a clear top.
Andrew_C Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 M6 seems large, unless Hitachi over engineer a lot. Buy a box of short M4, M5 & M6 and you'll be sorted whatever you have to do in future. Some washers would be good too, both plain and spring.
robmal Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Agreed those are the most useful sizes and good point about getting short ones, you don't want to have to use a hacksaw on them! Haven't yet met a caretaker without a Screwfix account - if you are on speaking terms with yours!
TechSupp Posted May 27, 2009 Author Posted May 27, 2009 Thanks, had guessed it was metric, found one of the existing screws (Hooray!) and it seems to be M4.
