I'm guessing you might already be aware of this but thought i would post it anyway

 

I been on to the geek a few times today to get "DataBase Error" just thought i would let you know.

There have been more than one or two hiccups for me this morning... just to let you know you're not on your own!

Yeh I am not sure what is causing the huge spikes in ram usage.

though the geek had died this morning, but left it loading while i went to make me a drink.

 

Glad it is not just me and there is a genuine issue.

 

- Very Slow Response Times

- DataBase errors on a regular basis

 

I think that sums up the problems

As ZH said had some huge memory spike issues so we are looking at it and hopefully will get the issue sorted.

Things should hopefully be starting to normalise now. The server is still being monitored though so there may still be some issues.

As a general pointer... Huge memory spikes usually indicates a root kit or something similar has managed to reach the server. More often that not it's things like IRC bots, spam bots, etc... but the idiots who write this stuff never think to keep the memory usage down as it's a dead give away.

 

The only other thing I can think of is SpamAssassin or MailScanner as they really are memory hogs.

 

Might not be the case but that's been the case for every spike I've ever had to deal with so far...
