EduTech Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I'm guessing you might already be aware of this but thought i would post it anyway I been on to the geek a few times today to get "DataBase Error" just thought i would let you know. James.
elsiegee40 Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 There have been more than one or two hiccups for me this morning... just to let you know you're not on your own!
ZeroHour Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Yeh I am not sure what is causing the huge spikes in ram usage. 2
EduTech Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 though the geek had died this morning, but left it loading while i went to make me a drink. Glad it is not just me and there is a genuine issue. - Very Slow Response Times - DataBase errors on a regular basis I think that sums up the problems James.
russdev Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Hi As ZH said had some huge memory spike issues so we are looking at it and hopefully will get the issue sorted. Sorry for any issue this may have caused anyone. Russ 2
ZeroHour Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Things should hopefully be starting to normalise now. The server is still being monitored though so there may still be some issues. 2
alan-d Posted May 14, 2009 Posted May 14, 2009 Just started to work normally for me. Been a mare all day
EduTech Posted May 14, 2009 Author Posted May 14, 2009 Yeah just to close this, it has been working normal for me all afternoon. Thanks ZH James.
contink Posted May 15, 2009 Posted May 15, 2009 As a general pointer... Huge memory spikes usually indicates a root kit or something similar has managed to reach the server. More often that not it's things like IRC bots, spam bots, etc... but the idiots who write this stuff never think to keep the memory usage down as it's a dead give away. The only other thing I can think of is SpamAssassin or MailScanner as they really are memory hogs. Might not be the case but that's been the case for every spike I've ever had to deal with so far...
