SIMS.net Attendance and Pupil ID Cards

Has any implemented a system of pupil id cards? Were looking at the feasibility of introducing one system that will allow cashless catering, auto registration to sims.net and open enough to allow us to add other systems to it.

One of the schools at a recent Sims user group(independent) I went to has setup a biometric system for door entry, registration and cashless catering. I'll try and dig out the schools name when I get back to my office pc.
