Gordie Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 Hi Folks, We are running a Windows 2003 Server network with XP Pro Clients. I noticed yesterday that for some unknown reason when I create a new user in AD and then login onto to a computer I get the following error message:- USER ENVIRONMENT - Windows cannot find a server copy of your roaming profile and is attempting to log you on with a local profile, etc, etc,. Your help would be much appreciated....
Geoff Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 Sounds like the user doesn't have permissions to write to where their profile is. Or alternatively the path to where their profile is might set wrong/non-existant.
ajbritton Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 Yep, agree with that. Check the path in the user account. Check the share permissions allow everyone (or equivalent) full control. Check the folder where the profile will be created has permssions like this - Administrators: Full Control (All subfolders and files) - System: Full Control (All subfolders and files) - (everyone/authenticated users/domain users): Create folder (this folder only) - CREATOR OWNER: Full Control (Subfolders and files only).
ChrisC Posted June 21, 2006 Posted June 21, 2006 A good ol' permissions reset sounds like it'll do the job. Chris
Gordie Posted June 22, 2006 Author Posted June 22, 2006 Thanks again Gentlemen, it was permissions although I don't know why it happened! when nothing had changed and its been working perfectly well for the last 6 months on our new network.
