Recommend a core switch

I'm after recommendations for a core switch that will connect 2 servers each with port trunking and link 5 edge switches. Both servers and edge switches are copper GB.

What kind of budget are you working with, I have always liked the Cisco 3750s but they are quite expencive, especially for mantinence. HP switching gear should be worth a look to.

I'd say something like the ProCurve 2900 24G Switch (J9049A) myself, as your requirements are quite low. Would most likely handle everything you're gonna throw at it.

So i'm guessing you want gigabit capability? It kinda limits you to some of the cheaper brands, which is fine but I personally wouldn't choose them if I had the cash.

 

Even then, £400 is going to be a push. The Netgear GSM7224 is a layer 2 managed switch which should handle port trunking, and has 24 gigabit ports. Should do what you want.
