Jobos Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 (edited) I'm after recommendations for a core switch that will connect 2 servers each with port trunking and link 5 edge switches. Both servers and edge switches are copper GB. Thanks. Edited April 20, 2009 by Jobos
SYNACK Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 What kind of budget are you working with, I have always liked the Cisco 3750s but they are quite expencive, especially for mantinence. HP switching gear should be worth a look to. 1
localzuk Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I'd say something like the ProCurve 2900 24G Switch (J9049A) myself, as your requirements are quite low. Would most likely handle everything you're gonna throw at it.
Jobos Posted April 20, 2009 Author Posted April 20, 2009 Wow... HT will will have a baby if I tell him that I was thinking of something under £400.

It kinda limits you to some of the cheaper brands, which is fine but I personally wouldn't choose them if I had the cash. Even then, £400 is going to be a push. The Netgear GSM7224 is a layer 2 managed switch which should handle port trunking, and has 24 gigabit ports. Should do what you want.
