Guest spider6986 Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Hi Everyone, Does anyone know how to create a universal ghost image without using sysprep, or am I gonna have to bite the bullet and go the sysprep way??? I would prefere a simple way to do this as I am having to try this at home at the moment and will be for a while. Any help appreciated
IrritableTech Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 You really should use sysprep, or at least create a new SID. My tips for a universal image are... Use the slowest oldest computer to create your image on. Test, test and then test some more. Find a bucket load of drivers, and use a Driver Scanner (I use the one from Vernalex.com - Welcome) Sysprep. Test, test and test some more. Cross fingers and expect to have forgotten to test something. 1
MatthewL Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 It's got to be done with SysPrep really, well its the way we do it and it works fine. We use SysPrep to install the drivers, add it to the domain and name it up. Any reason terrorvis why to use hte oldest of the computers? We always use the newest one. Spider6986 make sure you thoroughly test it on all devices, check all your drivers install adn they are the right ones, get another Techie or someone IT wise to check it before you deploy it. Each team within our department, Servers, Networks, Service Desk, Field Engineers and Training team are all suppose to test and tell us if there is a problem with our latest build if its a major one. 1

Yep that would be my main reason. I've also had issues building on a intel dual core, and placing it on a AMD single.
