Hi,

Is there a tool that will allow me to make changes to the Dell Bios within Windows? I have tried the Dell client manager but would like another solution.

The reason i ask is we look after a learning centre a few miles down the road and it is on out LAN connected via fibre. It would be more convenient to VNC to the machines and make the changes in Windows than go down to the centre.

Thanks

Which Dells? Are they vPro/AMT? If so, you can use the AMT tools to make the BIOS changes.

I think you can also use Microsoft SCCM but that's quite a big sledgehammer to crack quite a small nut :-)

The other thing that might be worth a try is the HP tool; I don't know how "transportable" SMBios settings utilities are so it might be tied to HP BIOS but it's called biosconfigutility and it's really easy to use.

I'd forgotten about the stuff @sirbendy links to but I think that's exactly what you need!

You need to install the Dell OpenManage Client Instrumentation stuff - this then adds the necessary, scriptable objects - search the website for R214518 and you should find it.
