Certain letter keys stop working

Hi,

 

We have a strange problem where the letter keys D L and I just stop working in whatever application you are using. The only way to get them working again is by re-booting the machine. This happens on random machines, but we have noticed it is always after break time, when the pupils have been using the internet. We have Spybot installed on all the machines and it is not picking anything up. We have also completely re-built the machines involved and that has made no difference. We are running Windows XP Pro SP2, IE 6, McAfee VirusScan 8 and Spybot 1.4.

 

Have any of you come across this? I have searched my usual websites, but can't find anything.

Maybe the kids are playing online games that use those keys? To much use maybe?

We also have Surfcontrol installed and have banned online games. We have looked at the Surfcontrol logs and they don't seem to be using anything like games sites and we cannot re-create the symptoms by accessing the sites they are using.

Are they able to play games from an external source such as a USB stick?

You could always try supervising the machines' use during break... see if the problem still arises
