Here are the revised update packs for March 2009:

 

Logistix Post XP SP3 Update Pack (March 2009)

 

Contains:

Internet Explorer 7

Media Player 11

All Post XP SP3 Hotfixes (including March Hotfixes)

Adobe Flash 10.0.12.36 and Adobe Shockwave 11.0.3.472

 

I haven't included the latest Adobe Flash 10.0.22.87, as some users have reported problems here

 

Logistix Microsoft .NET Framework Pack (No Changes, Please Read Below)

 

Includes .NET Framework 1.1, 2.0, 3.0, 3.5 and Service Packs.

 

Please note - There are now two post updates for .NET Framework 3.5 SP1, (KB953595 and KB958484) however as far as I can tell, they're only available from Windows Update. No redistributable versions are currently available!

 

Logistix Office 2007 Compatibility Plus Pack (No Changes)

 

Contains the Office 2007 Compatibility Pack + SP1 + Hotfixes and Microsoft Works 6 - 9 Viewer.

 

Logistix Plugins Plus Pack (March 2009)

 

Contains Adobe Flash 10.0.12.36, Adobe Shockwave 11.0.3.472, Adobe Reader 9.1, Java 6 Update 12, Quicktime Alternative 2.80 and Real Alternative 1.90.

 

The long awaited Adobe Reader 9.1 has arrived and contains important fixes described here

 

Logistix Microsoft Office Viewers Update Pack (No Changes)

 

Includes Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint Viewer and all post Hotfixes. Ideal for systems without Microsoft Office installed.

Its annoying baout NET Framework 3.5 SP1, it takes ages to intall with Windows Updates. Your pack would make it a breeze

.NET 3.5 SP1 'Full' is already included in the pack already. It's the Post .NET 3.5 SP1 Hotfixes which don't appear to be available in redistributable versions. When visiting Microsoft Update, it was about 15MB, so nothing massive.

ah im getting all mixed up here. What if you have it already installed will it overwrite it? if so this will be every handy to get my machine working with windows updates again.

Yes you can just install on top, even if you have .NET installed already. It's handy for machines running Sims.NET or indeed servers too, which have .NET applications installed.

 

Just think of it like this - Windows XP Service Pack 3 was released, but now there are Post updates since the Service Pack was released. It's the same principle for .NET too.

 

Microsoft have made a bit of a mish-mash with regards to what updates what with .NET, but I've simplified it all for you. The end result is:

 

.NET Framework 1.1 + SP1 + Updates

.NET Framework 2.0 + SP2

.NET Framework 3.0 + SP2

.NET Framework 3.5 + SP1

 

I've heard .NET Framework 4.0 is in the works and isn't a million miles off. Yet another Framework to patch (at some point). Oh the joy...

What is the easiest way to push this out to all our curriculum machines ? Can I run it in a startup script with a silent switch so the user will not see anything to cancel ?

For networks I usually recommend WSUS 3.0, however you could extract the files to a network share and modify the path in the batch file to a UNC path \\servername\sharename

 

This can create a lot of traffic, so only run a handful of machines at once. WSUS 3.0 is better for networks as it utilises BITS to distribute updates.
