gaz350 Posted February 28, 2009 Posted February 28, 2009 (edited) I have an interview on monday for Team Manager of IT Support(edited as it was changed!). Due to some unexpected events, i've been doing the job for the past 8 months there will be also be a couple of external people interviewing for the post. any questions i should expect to crop up? Anyone got any tips? I feel im ready to step up to the job and based on feedback from staff i have definately improved the rep of IT Support among staff at the school in what has been an impossible situation! russdev Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 One bit of advice through don't be "well i know you and school" constantly as it is very off putting and number one mistake internal candidates make.. Approach it with the view of you being external candidate. Russ 1
alan-d Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 One question that will no doubt be asked is ' How can you improve the IT services and facilities within the organisation?' As a Team Leader also expect questions on how to deal with people given a hypothetical situation. 1
gaz350 Posted March 2, 2009 Author Posted March 2, 2009 got the job i think it was very close between me and another guy. So look out for my (edit: old) job soon!
gaz350 Posted March 2, 2009 Author Posted March 2, 2009 yeah extremely, but that was more to do with internal politics not for public discussion boards.
alan-d Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 yeah extremely, but that was more to do with internal politics not for public discussion boards. Interesting! As all candidates are meant to be asked identical questions, how would the external candidates have tackled internal politics? Just curious!
GrumbleDook Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 The candidates were all asked the same questions but in this case the OP actually knew teh politics behind them ...
gaz350 Posted March 2, 2009 Author Posted March 2, 2009 i believe only i was asked this question due to my relations to the previous manager who had been dismissed and my loyalty was brought into question. it was something i was going to bring up during the interview so wasn't that bad! 1
