Exchange Help :(

Hi all,

 

I have installed exchange 2007 and configured it with RPC over HTTP.

 

I still can't get outlook to work with it though, i get the error message saying make sure outlook is online etc

 

When i connect apple mail and my iPhone it works perfect but just not outlook.

 

HELPP!!!

which version of exchange?

 

a few things to check from memory - we had huge issues with 2k7 and ipv6, it may be worth totally removing it, using the registry hack.

 

- is outlook anywhere being used? if its trying to use it but not configured that can cause problems

 

- do you get an error code? what about in the event log?

It's exchange 2007 with outlook 2007.

 

The machine is in a datacentre so Outlook anywhere is configured and needed.

 

The only error i recieve in outlook is that outlook must be online and it cannot contact the hostname.

 

There is nothing relating to Exchange in the event viewer.

I shall give you a few pinters later. I'm a bit busy at the moment. My first guess would be certificates. If your certificate isn't correct, or you don't have a UCC with all of the host names and aliases on then it'll fail. The other is that you need to open ports in whatever firewall (hardware or software) your networks uses.

As I said, I'm busy at the moment but I shall endevour to post links later.

I have actually looked on the server, and everything is setup.. but i did say it was possibly to do with the cert's as i remember someone saying to me in the past that that's a nightmare on exchange 2007.

 

Unfortunatly, i dont know much about it myself to give good advice which is why i said what i said up the top about DB been able to help as i remember you had fun with that didn't you pal

 

Hope you get it sorted craig, and maybe i can see how it works myself.

I'm guessing you still buy an SSL like you would for anything else, there's probably just a few more step's you have to take which i am sure someone will advise on.
