Sharepoint and Sims Webparts

We've now got this working but we're looking for more functionality. Is there anyway a Teacher could login choose a pupil in the system and put a progress report in that when they or they're parents login it would show up?

I take it what you're after is something which provides more detail than the Student Assessment Summary and Student Conduct Summary part?

 

Do you have the Profiles parts?

I am looking for something a little more detailed, I have profiles parts too, What I want is someway via SIMS or Sharepoint itself to allow a teacher to upload a progress report (in SIMS via Document Server and Sharepoint ??? don't have a clue to be honest ) and for the students parent or guardian to login and be pushed this progress report either by an announcement or by the document being sent to the share documents area for that users mysite?

As far as I'm aware there's no SLG parts to do this at the moment (I'll double-check), but I think there may be a way to get it to work.

 

Lists with audiencing of items, or even the document library with permissions set carefully might be one way. I'll look into it and see if I can figure something out.

 

It might also be worth looking at CodePlex - Open Source Project Hosting and seeing if someone's written something which would do what you want.

 

The drawback of this approach would be that the documents would not be integrated into the SIMS Document Server by default.

That wouldn't be the end of the world but really it only needs tor ead from SIMS and it's document server I would have thought this quite possible of course if anyone knows a developer we can discuss costs for this?

I'm afraid I don't know a developer, and having checked this isn't currently on the SLG roadmap.

 

Might be worth raising a change request on the Capita forums, as I suspect a lot of people would like to see this.

Spoke to Ben Jones from Capita a few weeks ago at a meeting (who is on the SLG team), and they are keen for user feedback on features. Im not sure if he is on here or not, but there are some Capita people about. Get onto SupportNet and send it as a feature request.

 

Sounds like a useful idea though, I know they are working on some enhancements to the Student Details parts (including adding SEN details). The one I am after is viewing past reports! It shouldnt have been missing in the first place though!
