Go away simple file sharing!!!

In XP folder options we are unchecking the option 'Use simple file sharing'

 

Upon reboot, the setting is checked again! Local admin accounts and no domain.

 

Any ideas as it will confuse our Sophos setup

You may be able to do it in the local security policy

 

Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Local Security policy

 

not 100% sure though.

Create or Mod a GPO for your workstations

Under Computer Config

 

select 'Local Policies|Security Options|Network access: Sharing and security model for local accounts'

tick 'Define this policy setting:'

select 'Classic - local users authenticate as themselves'

click 'OK'.

 

All done.
