Acer aspire 4315 - Dim monitor after replacement

We have just replaced the LCD screen on this Acer but the new screen is now very dim. Using the brightness controls makes no difference. Anyone with any ideas as to what is going on? Thanks

Very very dim, as in u can only read it when held up to the light in certain ways then i'd say the screen inverter at the bottom of the screen has failed.
