Hi guys, was hoping you could give me some advice on this issue.

I recently had a teacher come in with a laptop that needed her work taken off, backed up, the laptop reghosted and then the work put back on. Usual story.

Unfortunately she must have saved all this work (including student coursework) in an obscure directory that we dont usually look in.

She was asked to put all her work into one folder for us to back up (which she didnt do)

Now the work is gone and the laptop has since been ghosted.

Is it even possible using any data recovery on the laptop considering its been freshly ghosted. Would XP effectively overwrite any chance of getting the work back?

Any advice would be appreciated!

Try using Recover my Files by Get Data Back.

But in my view, it may not be every body elses.

If you have a "Home Documents" Folder on the C Drive of the staff laptops and staff know that they are to use that folder then I would argue that the issue was not caused by the Technician, thus they are not to blame, rather the member of staff who ignored ICT guidelines is to blame as they did not save the files in the location that the ICT Dept had specified. Id call it tough luck.

But this doesn't stop you having a look, just for extra points :-)
