SpuffMonkey Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Hi Does anyone have any experience of the Netmedia VLE? Our school is considering it - and I'd be happy to hear your experiences both good and bad. Thanks
Guest Guest Posted December 10, 2008 Posted December 10, 2008 Hi Does anyone have any experience of the Netmedia VLE? Our school is considering it - and I'd be happy to hear your experiences both good and bad. Thanks Its absolutely appauling. The NGfL has it and, in our LEA atleast, the common view is its a waste of time. Most schools have ditched it and went to Moodle or kolidas, despite the fact they are still paying for Netmedia in our RBC broadband costs. Its slow. It crashes Its missing many features you need. Bulk add is flakey Doesnt do things by alphebetical order, only date order No SCORM compliance Very few useful modules/applications are availible The Mail is filtered by Netmedia, who in their infinate wisdom block domains such as dell.com How many emails have gone missing we just cant be sure... They update things without warning, leaving you without access to the VLE or email - great when you're waiting for an important message. Us techies have a group on it and after more than 4 years of use our group cant have more than a few dozen posts, the majority being by Netmedia/the LEA/RBC/Easynet. So its apparent we dont "get it" Should i go on?

zag Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 We had it for a few years, it looks like its been designed by a 2 year old. Got sharepoint and moodle now and its soo much better.
Michael Posted December 11, 2008 Posted December 11, 2008 Birmingham have it in most if not all schools (as far as I am aware). It has been extremely problematic in the past, but it has got better and more reliable. There's still too much downtime from time to time however which is frustrating.
