Has anyone successfully run Wireshark (or similar tool) as a service at system startup to gather frame data from a wireless card as it attempts to make a connection?

I am trying to resolve a problem with an apparently random loss of connectivity with our wireless network.

I have run Wireshark on a system exhibiting the problem and now I would like to repeat it on one that is working successfully to see where the process breaks. The problem is the wireless connection is made before logon so I cannot start Wireshark soon enough to gather the data.

Any suggestions?

Disable the wireless once you're logged on, then re-enable it once you've started Wireshark?

I tried that, unless I missed something (very new to Wireshark, so quite possible) I discovered Wireshark expected to find the interface before it would start the trace.
