Rising Stars Assessment

I’m having problems with Rise Stars Assessment Mathematics Unit Tests (1-6). Done a network install as per instructions but will only run under admin rights. Is there a fix for this?

Don't want to hijack this thread, but have what I think is the same problem here installing the English Tests and Tasks.

 

I have contacted Rising Stars and they suggest that I need to give everyone read and write access to the registry key HKLM\Software\RisingStars\Assessment using the regini.exe utility from Microsoft (KB264584), having run the regini instruction on one workstation as Administrator and then logged back in as a mortal user I still get a failure to find the database.

It runs fine as Administrator...

The problem is definitely with Rising Stars not setting correct permissions when creating the said registry key. I tried regini but gave up as I found it didn’t work as required. The best way apart from Rising Stars programming correctly is to use group policy to set permissions on the required registry key.

I'd like to share some bile over installing this utter POS as well. 2009 version.

 

It's just a bunch of PDFs with some pupil tracking. Why on earth -

a) isn't there a proper installer? *Having* to map a drive letter (to a specified letter!) and manually copy files across is a bit 1985!

b) do you have to have the db location in the registry? Who on earth wants regular users writing to the reg?

 

 

I hear the newer version is web based. The old version should have been too.
