Clutching at straws

Now I'm sure I know the answer, but does anyone know why my linux computer is saying "Kernal panic - not syncing"?

Hardware problem. Usually caused by chipset bugs. What mobo do you have?

 

Try moving your IDE devices around. eg. put HDD and CD Drive on seperate cables. Also try using a different CD drive. Sometimes things get confused when you mix dma and pio modes.

I think I had a similar thing when I managed to fill my hard disk on an old box too. It then tried to log the message which caused it to go mental again, causing another write to the log and another whinge which wrote to the log... (you get the idea!)

I have to agree, but personally prefer them in smaller doses, I end up snarling at people, and feel like wearing dungarees.

@Dos_Box.... I much prefer Script For A Jesters Tear & Fugazi to the later stuff though although Clutching At Straws was not bad at all... I saw them at Exeter Uni in about 1983/4 when Fish was still wearing makeup!

I like the old stuff, and I like the new stuff, but Clutching at Straws will always have a specila place for me. It was the last ablum with fish singing and the track 'That Time of The Night' contained the line which made me finally quit the army.
